Bookmarks for the Friends of the Mercer Island Farmers Market September 2011 Book Sale

As part of the Friends of the Mercer Island’s upcoming Book Sale and Silent Auction next month, the King County Library Service created a bookmark. A big “thank you” to KCLS and their staff.

We thought that our members and community would enjoy having these bookmarks. (We have actually heard of folks who are collectors of bookmarks.) So, we have uploaded the document, which, in fact, contains three identical bookmarks. Please feel free to download and print them out.  Maybe give one of the bookmarks to a friend.

The Friends of the Mercer Island Library’s Silent Auction runs from August 16, 2011 to September 6, 2011. Some of the items available include:

  • The World of Charles Addams
  • Aftermath, World Trade Center Archive by Joel Meyerwitz
  • Albrecht Durer and the Animal and Plant Studies of the Renaissance by Fritz Koreny
  • Pearl Jam Place/Date text by Charles Mercer, photos by Lance Peterson
  • The Grateful Dead. Limited slip case edition
  • Vertebrae by Samuel Green.  Autographed copy
  • Pacific Northwest, The Beautiful Cookbook by Kathy Casey
  • Orlando (The Marmalade Cat). A Seaside Holiday by Kathleen Hale

All of the items will be in the display cabinet by the entrance to the Mercer Island Library. A complete list of items in the auction was posted yesterday on our website.

The Friends of the Mercer Island Library’s Fall Book Sale will run from Friday, September 9, 2011 to Sunday, September 11, 2011. We anticipate having over 10,000 quality books and media at the sale. There will be a special early members-only opening of the Book Sale from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2011.

All proceeds from the Silent Auction and Book Sale go to support Mercer Island Library programs and activities.

The Mercer Island Library is located at 4400 88th Avenue SE, Mercer Island, WA.

The Friends of the Mercer Island Library Announce 2011 Book Sales Dates

At our annual meeting last month, the membership of the Friends of the Mercer Island Library approved the dates for their three book sales this year. All sales are held at the Mercer Island Public Library, 4400 88th Avenue SE, Mercer Island, WA 98040.

Spring Book Sale

Thursday, April 14th to Sunday, April 17th in the lobby during Library open hours.

Great fiction paperbacks and hardbacks along with a nice selection of children’s and nonfiction for sale.

Fall Book Sale

Friday, September 9th, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, September 10th, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, September 11th, 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

This is our biggest sale of the year.  We will have over 10,000 books in all genres, plus media. Most items are priced between $0.50 and $2.00 with new items added daily. Paperbacks will be sold in the lobby as early as Wednesday the 7th.

Our usual Members-Only Presale at the Fall Book Sale will be Thursday, September 8th, 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. (non-members can join the Friends of the Mercer Island Library at the door.)

The Silent Auction for the Fall Book Sale will be held from August 15th through September 6th. Roughly 100 special books will be showcased in the lobby display case.  Last year’s items included a signed cookbook by Julia Child.

Winter Book Sale

Thursday, December 1st- Sunday, December 4th in lobby during Library open hours.

Mini but mighty.  We will have great books for sale suitable for gifting or just for your reading pleasure including holiday-themed books for children.

Proceeds from the book sales fund, in whole or in part, over 75% of the programs at the Mercer Island Library so please donate your quality used books and support our sales!

Friends of Mercer Island Library Fall Book Sale

The Friends of the Mercer Island Library invite you to our Fall Book Sale. Thanks to the generous donations of Island residents, we have over 10,000 books to sell, as well as CDs, DVDs, and videos in every category.

*A members-only pre-sale will be held on Thursday evening, October 21 between 4:45 and 8:00 pm. Members of Friends of the Mercer Island Library will have the opportunity to select and purchase books before the sale opens to the general public on Saturday. New members can join at the door on Thursday evening, and members whose membership has lapsed can renew. Annual memberships are Family $15, Individual $10, and Senior $5.

The sale to the general public will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, October 22, 23, and 24 . Saturday hours will be from 10:00 am until 5:00 pm.

On Sunday, all books will be half price from 1pm until closing.
